Advanced Higher Art Gallery Exhibition

Breadalbane Academy Art & Design department held its opening night of the Advanced Higher Portfolio Exhibition at the Aberfeldy Gallery on Thursday 26 June. The exhibition was officially opened by Gordon Murch, Head of the music department at the Academy.

Josie Merry, Michelle Anderson, Sam Garry and Amy Dickson are the artists involved and assembled family, friends and invited guests enjoyed the variety of the exhibition as each artist has a very different style. Josie Merry has a great interest in textiles and as well as having her portfolio work on display, she also exhibited two costumes she had created. She told Comment “I am really excited to be here tonight, it’s fantastic to be able to show our work like this.” Josie leaves Aberfeldy this summer as she has secured a place at Aberdeen University studying textiles.
Mrs Carr, head of the Art and Design department was with the students all day, helping them hang their work and get everything ready for their opening night. She said “We are very grateful to Judy Proudfoot and Aberfeldy Gallery for giving the students this opportunity to have their work on display in a real art gallery.”
The department at Breadalbane works very hard each year with the students involved in standard grade and higher work. This year Mrs Carr and Mrs Fearn have had help in the shape of Mr Contier, who has been serving his probationary year at Breadalbane. Mr Contier moves on to his next position and Mrs Carr made a presentation to him and thanked him for all his help throughout the year.
The exhibition is free and is open to the public at Aberfeldy Gallery on Kenmore Street from Friday 27 June until Wednesday 2 July 2008.
