Fortingall 2008

Scottish finance Minister, John Swinney, is keen to show his support of some of the finest artists of Highland Perthshire by formally opening the 2008 Fortingall Art Exhibition on 1 August at 6pm.  The evening will include the announcement of the winner of the £250 bursary award and the children’s art competition.

Fortingall Art is a co-operative group of artists and patrons, formed originally to stage a one-off show which proved such a hit that it has become an annual event, now in its fifth year.

The group’s major annual exhibition has maintained a high standard since its inception.  Each successive year has seen the introduction of new artists, different concepts and consistently stages a very lively opening night, always the best opportunity for previewing.

The original core group of 25 members has now grown to 38 and includes some well-known names, including wildlife artist Keith Brockie, photographer Jamie Grant, landscape painter Richard Alred and surrealist Eric Timms.  The group is well supported by chairperson Janet Wotherspoon of Glenlyon House and her hard-working committee.

The exhibition will open its doors at the Molteno Hall, Fortingall on 1 August at 6pm and refreshments will be served.  It continues up to and including 10 August, open daily from 10am to 6pm.
