Morenish Transformed into The House of Cantle

Jim McNeish was born in Bo’ness and his educational background is psychology, but his expertise is in leadership and organisational development. He has worked in the oil industry, retailing, entertainment, charities, academia, e-commerce, PR, banking, politics and manufacturing and his previous clients include Anita Roddick (The Body Shop) and Geoff Mulcahy (Kingfisher) - two of the biggest names in international business.

Previously, his biography read that he dreamed of one day opening up a retreat centre in the Highlands of Scotland for team events and leadership development.

Two years ago he purchased Morenish Lodge on north lochtayside and he has been busy refurbishing the entire property (pictured above).  It now boasts 10 bedrooms (12 are planned once all the work is complete), a library for in-depth study and reception areas that can accommodation groups of 12 or for smaller groups there is a very comfortable snug.

The property is now known as House of Cantle (from the old Scots word ‘cantle’ to revive the spirits).  It was created to bring the human back into the workplace. Not the “soft skills”, or the PC initiatives, designed to win badges – but the gritty, determined, resilient performances that mark a company as different.

The purpose is to breathe life back into teams and their leaders; to remind them that in a world of people and circumstances – people get to win.  Jim’s clients come from all over the world to participate in courses run over 3 to 4 days.

He has managed to recruit the majority of his staff locally and he uses, where possible, local producers for his supplies.  He is currently writing a book called “Behind The Eyes of a Leader” which will explore what it is that the most “impactful” leaders notice about the world.

Jim’s business interventions take the shape of 1 to 1 coaching for executives, leadership training events, facilitation of large scale or senior board meetings and creating processes and interventions that underpin organisational change.

For more information on what the House of Cantle has to offer to businesses and and their staff, contact Jim at enquiries@cantle.net
