National Award Bronze Medal for Local Chef

Chef/owner of Ardeonaig Hotel & Restaurant, Pete Gottgens, has been awarded a Bronze Medal at the Scottish Chef Awards 2008.

Fighting off stiff competition from other highly respected Scottish chefs, Pete - the previous winner of Gourmet Menu of the Year - received a Bronze Medal in the Hotel Chef of the Year category.  The results of the awards were announced in Glasgow on Sunday 11 May.

Arguably the industry’s most recognised and independent awards, the Scottish Chef Awards are fast becoming the most coveted  in Scotland.  Judged by their peers and by well-known food writers, the resulting winners are reputed to be the most talented chefs in the country.

Pete Gottgens (pictured) has built an enviable reputation for the quality of the food and wine experience at Ardeonaig.  Sourcing the majority of produce from local farmers and crofters, the emphasis of the cuisine is on flavour driven, sustainable and simply cooked food.

“I am naturally delighted to receive this accolade,” he said.  “As well as being a personal achievement it is a credit to my fantastic team here at Ardeonaig”.

The Ardeonaig is currently closed for a £1.6m refurbishment and is due to reopen on 28 June.
