New Face at Freader’s Books

Mark Cross moved to Aberfeldy from Southampton last year having lived in the locality  for a short time a few years ago.  Mostly employed in warehousing or factories, he spent 15 years building transit vans at Ford’s assembly plant in Southampton.

“I was pleased to be given the opportunity to move back to the area,” Mark told Comment, “and although the decision to move from Southampton was certainly a life changing one, it was an easy one.   I had wanted to get away to the countryside for some time and, having friends living in Fortingall who were happy to give me accomodation, made the move relativly painless.”

It had always been an ambition of his to run a shop, so it felt like fate when he was introduced to Christopher Rowley who, after some 14 years, had decided to retire from his bookselling business.

“I will, initially at least, be carrying on in much the same vein as my predecessor,” Mark explained.  “However, we came to the arrangement that he would take with him his secondhand business, which he intends to run from home.

Warhammer

“This has conveniently freed-up space to allow me to carry the Games Workshop range of models and gaming accessories, including paints, rule books and so on. Games Workshop produces the well known Warhammer/Warhammer40k and Lord of the Rings games which I now stock.”

Mark also builds them and plays the games himself.

He intends to expand the range of general fiction to suit all ages and interests, including the Black Library range of science fiction and fantasy novels that complement the Games Workshop products.

He will continue the wide range of nonfiction and local interest books that Freaders has always stocked and can order just about any title wanted so long as its still in print. As a commitment to the promotion of literature he is happy to offer any bookgroups a discount of 10% when three or more of the same fiction title are ordered.  Contact him on  01887829519  or email   crossmark52@yahoo.co.uk
