Etape Sabotage Charges Dropped Against Local Man

Alex Grosset, the Rannoch resident who was arrested and imprisoned for two days last May for allegedly spreading tacks on the road and sabotaging the Etape Caledonia cycle race, has been cleared of any involvement.

As Comment went to press, a Crown Office spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the Procurator Fiscal in Perth received a report concerning a 62-year-old man in relation to an incident on 16 May 2009. After full and careful consideration of all the facts and circumstances by Crown Counsel, it was decided there should be no further proceedings.”
Comment broke the news to Alex Grosset who said: “I am very interested in what you tell me. It is difficult to give an immediate reaction as I have not heard anything directly myself.”
A spokesperson for Tayside Police said that the Crown Office decision meant no further action was being taken against Alex Grosset.
