Pitlochry: Scottish Cabinet to meet in Town

MSP for North Tayside and Scotland’s Finance Secretary, John Swinney, has welcomed the Scottish Government’s decision to take politics to the people by holding some Cabinet meetings outside the capital city.  The Cabinet will meet in Dumfries, Inverness, Pitlochry and Skye as part of a summer schedule which includes a series of National Conversation events.

“It is welcome news that the Scottish Government will be taking politics to the people this summer," said ther MSP. " By hosting our Cabinet meetings outside Edinburgh, as part of a series of events arranged to engage Scots with local and national issues, we will ensure that the new climate of transparency in Scottish politics continues.

“It is particularly exciting that the Cabinet will meet in Pitlochry and get to sample all that the area has to offer.

“It is vitally important that Government represents the people who elected it, and by taking our message across the country we can ensure that the issues close to Scots’ hearts are getting talked about at the highest level.

“I am very much looking forward to visiting these parts of the country this summer.”
