Loss of Kinloch Rannoch Post Office Service Addressed

26.01.10

Post Taste, the community venture which brought together the Post Office, the petrol station and a popular community café in Kinloch Rannoch has ceased trading.
Reflecting upon the news, MP Pete Wishart expressed his disappointment and said: “News such as this is greatly damaging to this community.
“It is greatly frustrating that such a pioneering commercial venture to sustain community life is suffering such financial difficulties in this harsh economic climate.”
Sympathising with everyone involved, but especially with the four staff who will lose their jobs, he continued: “Even the smallest numbers of job losses are keenly felt in the fragile economies of communities such as Kinloch Rannoch."

Service Re-Sited in Village

It was announced on 25 January that a new agent to operate a re-sited counter service for the Post Office in Kinloch Rannoch has been appointed, meaning that local people will again be able to access the range of post office products and services.

Ray Jefferson, field change adviser for Post Office Ltd : "The provision of a post office service to our customers in the local community is of paramount importance and I am delighted that we have been able to appoint a new agent which will allow us to restore a post office presence in the area as soon as possible."

Apologising for the inconvenience that the closure of Post Taste has caused the local community, he said: "Post Office Ltd are pleased to announce that a new agent has been appointed, providing us with the opportunity to incorporate post office services into The Country Store located at Bridgend, Kinloch Rannoch.

Regretting the temporary loss of service, he added: "It is expected that we will re-open the Post Office branch in the new premises in March, although this will be subject to public consultation."
