| Fortingall Charity Fashion Show A charity fashion show was held at the Molteno Memorial Hall in Fortingall on Friday 16 May to raise money for the Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland (CHAS). CHAS is a Scottish charity committed to the provision of hospice services in Scotland working exclusively with children with life-limiting conditions and their families. It has two hospices (Rachel House in Kinross, and Robin House in Balloch) and also a CHAS at-home service. These services cost in excess of £5 million a year to maintain and this is mainly provided through the generosity of their supporters by fund raising and donations. In previous years the committee of the Molteno Hall has made a donation to CHAS but this year it was decided to stage an event in order to try and raise more money. The idea of a fashion show was put forward and luckily Frances from NOA in Aberfeldy kindly agreed to stage one. In all 63 outfits were modelled showing a range of clothes to suit all occasions and all shapes and sizes! During the interval wine and nibbles helped to create a relaxed atmosphere. Over 80 people attended on the night and I think everyone would agree that it was a most enjoyable event. “By the end of the evening we had managed to raise £700 for CHAS. The committee of the Molteno Hall would like to express its gratitude to Frances from NOA for all her hard work in organising the show,” reported Sue Finlay of the hall committee. She added: “Thanks also go to all the models who were brave enough to strut their stuff on the ‘catwalk’; to all the people who donated raffle prizes with special thanks going to the Highland Safari and the Fortingall Hotel; to the House of Menzies for providing the wine at cost and last but not least to all who attended and made it such a successful fund-raising night.” For further information on CHAS and the work it does see www.chas.org.uk |
