Kenmore Primary Eco School Progress In March the children and staff took part in the Kenmore clean up day. They helped tidy the river bank, the Square, through the Castle gates, Pier Road and ended up on the beach making a bonfire. It was a great day and good to be involved in the community, writes Eco School Committee Member Pauline McLaren. At Kenmore Primary we are raising one hundred salmon eggs through an organisation called Angling for Youth Development. We have had them since February when they arrived as little pink jelly eggs. Now they are little fish and are around 4cm long. We will release them into the River Tay in around four to five weeks when they are big enough to survive on their own. Every Tuesday we have an Eco after school club. We make healthy snacks for our Tuck Shop and we keep the school grounds litter free. It is really fun and everyone enjoys it. Our infant class has sown vegetable seeds and is taking part in the Super Spud competition again, which it won the last time it entered. Primaries four and five are growing herb boxes which will be for sale on Sports Day. Primaries six and seven have sown flower seeds which will be used to decorate the outside of the school, and the rest will be planted in hanging baskets and sold on Sports Day. All the children and staff are working very hard to achieve The ‘Green Flag’ for our Eco Schools. They hope to have achieved this before the end of the year.
