Pitching In To Work Experience
04.02.10
Through Breadalbane Academy’s excellent relationship with Aberfeldy community council chairman Mike Williamson, the green keeper at Aberfeldy golf course, pupils Corey Robertson and Kris Kidd recently secured work experience placements at St Johnstone’s football stadium.
There the head groundsman, Chris Smith expressed his delight with their efforts and appreciation for their help over two days, and remarked on how hardworking they had been.
They took part in pitch preparation and discussions regarding growing grass, and teacher Peter Butter reported that the boys are now experts in mending seats broken by unfriendly supporters, cleaning wild birds’ droppings from seats, forking up divots at half time and puddle mopping.
The bonus and ‘wages’ for the two day trip was a free seat to watch the match. Other boys and girls are to be given a similar opportunity in the near future.
