Strathtay Ramblers

Strathtay Ramblers was formed in November 2005 by a small group of local walkers.  The group organises fortnightly walks, on alternate Saturdays and Sundays, starting from the Old Church Car Park, Crieff Road.  These range in distance from about 8 to 12 miles.  Some are low level: Glen Tilt, Glen Banvie, Loch Ordie, for example.  Others include Munros and other tops such as Carn Gorm, the  Tarmachan ridge and Farragon Hill.

The group tries to provide a varied programme to suit all fitness levels. In fact, a recent initiative has been Short Walks for Amblers every Wednesday, starting at 1.30 pm from the Old Church Car Park in Aberfeldy.  These are mainly local walks of 2-5 miles.

Now and again the group does something a little different such as its boat trip last autumn from Tarbet to Rowardennan, followed by a wk along the West Highland Way to Inversnaid, returning by boat to Tarbet (pictured right).  More recently, the walk from Rannoch to Corrour, or the alternative around Loch Ossian, was followed by a meal at the excellent Station Café, and return journey by train.

For more information contact the branch secretary, David Parmley, on 01887-829503.  See the ‘What’s On’ section for the upcoming walk details - the first of which is on Wednesday 21 May and is one of the Short Walks for Amblers, meeting 1.30 pm, Old Church Car Park, Crieff Rd.  Details G. Robertson 01887 840324.
