John Hegley – Live at The Watermill
Hot from the Edinburgh festival, poet and comedian John Hegley performed live at The Watermill in Aberfeldy on Friday 25 August. Fifty people gathered for an intimate performance of work from his latest book, ‘Uncut Confetti’. He recited a variety of work from the comical to the poignantly touching, all performed in his legendary dramatic style. Some poems took the form of songs where he played the mandolin and was accompanied on the banjo by his friend Dave. During these songs the audience were invited to participate and sing different lines of the chorus, often to hilarious effect.
The collection of poetry ‘Uncut Confetti’ was on sale that evening, where they were signed and personalised by the author. The audience felt privileged to have the opportunity to see such a renowned entertainer in Aberfeldy and the night was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, including John who has pledged to return next year. The Watermill programme of events continues with an evening of traditional and folk music performed by local musicians on Thursday 21 September – tickets (£5) are on sale now at the Watermill 01887 822896 |
