  New Bowling Seaon Underway

Aberfeldy Bowling Club

The Club opened its season on 12 April with 42 bowlers taking to the Green in 3 Full Rinks and 3 Triple Rinks, six rinks playing for the President and six for the Vice President.
The Presidents Rinks won by 63 shots to 53 shots. Douglas Craick, the President, welcomed the bowlers and invited Mrs Mattie McDougall to throw the first jack.
A sweepstake was run and the winning triple of Betty Punton, Isla Duncan and Christine McLennan, won by 9 shots, the highest up score. A delicious tea was provided by the ladies of Club after the game.
The President thanked all who had taken part in making it such an enjoyable day, before drawing the raffle.
On 20 April 16 bowlers travelled to Rattray for the annual friendly match, this year resulting in a win for Aberfeldy by 83 shots to 76.
Sixteen bowlers took to the green for the Club’s first competition, The McKinlay 2 Bowl Singles, played over 21 to 25 April. Norrie Rattray was the eventual winner by 14 shots to Christine McLennan’s 5 shots.
Fourteen Dunkeld bowlers travelled to Aberfeldy on 27 April for the annual friendly match. Another win for Aberfeldy by 83 shots to 74.

Grandtully and Strathtay Bowling Club

The club had its first day of the bowling season on Sunday 27 April. President Iain Thomson welcomed everyone to the new season and threw the first jack (pictured above by Linda Thomson).
