Tales of Glen Lyon - MacIvor

When David Stewart of Garth was collecting material for his book ‘Sketches of the Highlanders’ in the early 19th century, Archibald Macdiarmid of Roro, Glen Lyon sent him two traditional tales which had been told up the Glen. One Stewart used in the book in a truncated form & that was the tale of the battle between the Stewarts of Garth and the MacIvors.

The other, the Grim Shoemaker, he did not use. It does not seem to appear in print anywhere, and when it was published recently in Comment that was probably the first time that it had been related for 150 years.
